About Mehandipur Balaji Temple

The temple with the most historical significance in the Dausa district of Rajasthan is Mehandipur Balaji Temple. It is a temple of the god Hanuman in a village in that district. The place used to be dense jungle full of wild animals all around. Even the thieves and dacoits used to be afraid to set foot in this area.

Yet, when Baba Mahantji Maharaj sleepwalked into the forest, he knew not where he was headed. He saw an army of people coming towards him with thousands of lamps lit up in his dream-like state. They offered their prayers to Shri Balaji Maharaj, Shri Bhairo Baba and Shri Pretraj Sarkar. When they were done doing so, they returned in the direction from which they had come. Baba Mahantji was unsure of what it all meant and so he returned but was unable to sleep.

He kept thinking about what he had seen, wondering why had seen so. Finally, he fell asleep. This time he saw the three statues of the gods he had seen earlier, he also saw a huge temple and the sounds of that same army again. He felt that someone has whispered in his ears to devote his life to their service and offer his prayers to them. He was promised to be guided whenever a bad phase would fall upon him and stay protected from any harm that would come his way.

However, without the knowledge of who the person was in that night to have spoken to him, the Maharaj decided to ignore the dream. Ultimately, he had a vision where Shri Balaji Maharaj himself came to him and asked him to devote himself completely to him once again. This time, the Maharaj took action. The people of his village were awestruck by the miracles that Shri Balaji could confer upon them through their devotion. Though the idol kept disappearing time and again, it would appear mysteriously when recalled by the people.
